Missions
...serve one another humbly in love.

At Pleasant Hill, our mission reaches far beyond our walls and into the heart of our community. We believe faith is meant to be lived — expressed through service, compassion, and practical support for those facing real-life challenges.

Throughout the year, we host Red Cross Blood Drives, providing opportunities for our congregation and community to share the life-saving gift of blood. Each summer, we welcome youth and adult volunteers for the Salkehatchie Summer Service Camp, where homes are repaired and hope is restored through acts of service and Christ-centered encouragement. We also occasionally prepare and serve meals to college students through the Winthrop Wesley Foundation, offering care and connection during a pivotal season of life.

We are proud to support local students and families through the Lancaster County Back to School Bash, helping children begin the school year with confidence and the supplies they need to succeed. In partnership with the Belair UMC Food Pantry, we work to ease food insecurity and provide encouragement to families experiencing difficult seasons. Our outreach extends even further through financial support and volunteer service to Epworth Children’s Home, along with monetary donations to Lancaster Children’s Home and UMCOR, helping respond to both ongoing needs and disaster relief efforts.

The Minds Matter Ministry offers meaningful respite for caregivers of loved ones living with memory loss. While caregivers rest and renew, their family members experience compassionate care, engaging activities, and genuine fellowship. One of our most impactful local outreach efforts, School Meals and Clothes, meets urgent needs with dignity — assisting with student lunch balances, eyeglasses, shoes, school uniforms, and, in extreme situations, rent or utility assistance for families in crisis.

During the Christmas season, our congregation participates in Angel Tree and fills shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child, sharing gifts, encouragement, and the message of hope with children and families both in our community and around the world.

These ministries reflect the heart of Pleasant Hill — a church committed to showing God’s love through action. We invite you to be part of what God is doing beyond our walls. Whether you serve, give, or pray, you can help make a lasting difference as together we bring hope to our community.
