At Pleasant Hill UMC, outreach happens in everyday moments — around tables, over coffee, in laughter-filled gatherings, and in shared experiences that bring our community together.
Each Tuesday morning from 6:00 to 10:00 a.m., our Solid Grounds Café opens its doors for our Community Coffee Café. Guests are welcomed with free coffee and tea in a relaxed, friendly environment where they can stay to chat with neighbors, catch up on work using free Wi-Fi, or simply grab a cup to go as they begin their day. It’s a simple but meaningful way we create connection and hospitality in the rhythm of weekly life.
Throughout the year, we host and support special community events that families eagerly anticipate. Our Annual Breakfast with the Bunny and Community Easter Egg Hunt fills our campus with joy as children and parents gather for a morning of food, fun, and celebration. During the summer, Vacation Bible School provides an energetic and engaging week where children experience faith through music, activities, and meaningful relationships. We also partner with the Lancaster County Arts and Sciences Camp, helping create opportunities for students to explore creativity, discovery, and hands-on learning. Blessings of the Animals around St. Francis Day allows us to enjoy those furry (and some not so furry) friends who have been entrusted to our care with a blessing from the Pastor on the front lawn. Each fall, we participate in the Carolinas Chili Championship Festival, connecting with the wider community through fellowship, fun, and shared traditions. Trunk or Treat provides a safe and happy atmosphere for our community friends to visit the campus and Trick or Treat among decorated vehicles with special treats for all. In the Advent season, families are invited to experience the wonder of our Night with Saint Nicholas, an evening that includes dinner, storytelling, and memorable moments that celebrate generosity and tradition.
During the school year, our monthly Messy Church gatherings offer a welcoming space for all ages to experience faith in creative and interactive ways. Each gathering includes a shared meal along with hands-on activities, music, and fun experiences that build relationships and create a strong sense of belonging for everyone in the community.
Through these outreach opportunities, Pleasant Hill UMC continues to open its doors wide — creating spaces where friendships are formed, families are strengthened, and neighbors become connected.
